Then, calling on his memories the narrator also told her that October was the best time. In October, Mussoorie appears in quiet beauty. The tourists leave the hills and the roads remain quiet and almost deserted. The hills adorn themselves with wild dahlias. The sun is also delicious. At night one can sit in front of a log fire and enjoy a little brandy. Memories of this scenes beauty probably made both of them nostalgic and reflective. As a result the girl remained silent for sometime.

3. What is the significance of the title “The Eyes Have It”?

Ans.- The title of Ruskin Bond’s short story “The Eyes Have It” is quite witty and befitting for the Story. It tales the story of to two blind persons- the narrator and the girl. Both of them tried to hide their blindness to each other. This story is about a casual meeting of the blind girl with the narrator during a train journey. Impressed by the girl’s voice and easy going manners, the narrator tries to hide his blindness from the girl through pretense. But in the end he comes to know quite unexpectedly the girl herself was totally blind. Thus the blindness of both the main characters, comprises the theme of this story. So, the eyes or the lack of sight in the ‘Eyes’ contain the story element of this story with a strong hint on the vision beyond the eyes or the Innervisions.

The person who have insight can see beyond what their eyes can see. So, the title of the story is suggestive or symbolical.
